Complete cruise solution to offer seven day service to agents
Complete cruise solution has announced that from monday 21st september, the opening hours of the reservations centre will be extended and will be open seven days a week.
Carnival UK, sales and customer services director, giles hawke, said: "we believe we provide an excellent all-round service to agents and this change to our reservations opening hours shows how focused we are on what the trade want and how we can best serve them. Agents often tell us that sunday is a busy day for them, especially after weekend advertising, and we want to ensure that we are always available to provide the support and service that they require. We're also opening later during the week to be more in tune with agents who stay open later to catch those customers coming in or calling them at the end of the working day.
"the team at complete cruise solution really do pride themselves on offering excellent customer service and we are always looking at ways we can help agents with their business and to be as successful as possible. We are constantly innovating and provide excellent online support and training for agents, and over the coming months we'll be introducing some exciting new initiatives. There is a great deal of commission to be had through selling cruise and there really has never been a better time to work with us."
Opening hours of the reservations centre will be: monday to friday 08:00 - 20:00 saturday 09:00 - 17:00 sunday 10:00 - 16:00

Carnival UK planning ‘large number’ of redundancies in severe hit to southampton

C ruise giant carnival UK has announced plans to make a “large number of redundancies” in southampton as it grapples with the havoc the coronavirus outbreak is wreaking on the industry.
Its president, josh weinstein, has warned that without taking action the company “may not successfully get to the other side of this”, while one of the city’s mps said the news would be keenly felt in the local area.
The company employs approximately 1,100 people in and around southampton within its cunard line and P&O cruises brands. Both lines have paused their operations until the end of july.
However, a source said that the numbers they have seen mean the redundancies are applicable to all of those who work in the city’s carnival house building – close to 1,600 employees of the umbrella cruise group.
The UK offices of princess cruises, seabourn and holland america line are located here. These cruise lines have been contacted for comment, with one – princess – confirming the redundancies also apply to them.
Although carnival declined to reveal the number of people who may lose their jobs, local media have reported that 450 roles are under scrutiny.
A consultation period will take place until june 30, and staff who keep their jobs will see their hours reduced by 20 per cent with a corresponding pay cut from july until at least the end of november.
Royston smith, conservative MP for southampton itchen, told telegraph travel: “job losses at carnival will be hard-felt locally. Their dedicated and hard-working staff will be very concerned by this news and I hope carnival will do all they can to support those affected.
“this terrible virus presents a challenge like nothing before and unfortunately jobs will be lost. When it's safe, carnival will want to resume their operations as quickly as possible and I hope that they will support their workforce until this is possible."
When asked how the job cuts would affect operations moving forwards, a spokesperson for carnival reiterated the summer restart date and said that the company was currently looking at how they can phase their ships back into service.
“our priority is to treat everyone with fairness and respect and to have open and honest conversations. These changes, whilst very difficult, are to ensure the future sustainability of our business,” a spokesperson said.
“the covid-19 pandemic has not only affected the holidays of our guests but it has also impacted every part of our business; our future deployment; the guest experience; our supply chain and our people on ship and on shore.”
“during our pause in operations we have tried to create as much certainty and stability as possible for our staff in southampton and crew on board our ships.
“unfortunately though and like many businesses, as covid-19 has continued to impact our way of life it is necessary to make changes to our organisation to build a stable platform for the time we phase our ships back into service and for future growth.”
Mr weinstein spoke to staff over video, according to the southern daily echo.
“what started out several months ago as us avoiding a couple of port calls on our round world voyages had turned into a total shutdown of worldwide cruises and a global lockdown on society.”
He added: “[I am] truly sorry for the pain that this is going to cause but the hard truth is that if we don’t right-size the company and significantly reduce our cash burn during this devastating crisis, we may not successfully get to the other side of this – and I certainly don’t want to see the proud 180-year histories of P&O cruises and cunard wind down on our watch.”

Carnival UK doing something funny for money!!
The carnival UK call centre opened it's telephone lines on the evening of friday 13th march between 7pm and midnight to take donations on behalf of comic relief.
We had an amazing response with over 100 volunteers giving up their friday evening to help. We also welcomed atul kochhar (celebrity chef who will feature onboard azura cooking in his retaurant sindhu), mayor of southampton and editor of the daily echo to help on the phones. Paddington bear and noddy also made an appearance!

As the evening started the excitement built, who was going to take the first donation, who would take the largest donation and who would eat the most pizza! During the evening the call centre took over £100k in public donations.
In addition to taking public donations, carnival UK raised an incredible £3177.51 for comic relief, with funds collected from a dress down day, silent auction, raffle and sponsored head shave!

Complete cruise solution attend the british travel awards
Fiona snow, sian crossey, zoe scott and dink ganatra from complete cruise solution all attended the british travel awards. They were joined by sarah bolton, maria wade, keren bleich, kerry hannington, dave mills and sarah hall who had all won the opportunity to attend through waves of wisdom.
With the live band playing and presenter, frankie boyle, coming on stage, the evening got off to a great start. After the awards ceremony our dinner arrived during which the entertainment was a tribute band to the supremes. Then, the highlight of the evening, signature, the second place act in britain's got talent, performed. After dinner we had more awards and then the supremes tribute band continued to play as we danced the night away. The VIP area had a fantastic chocolate fountain which was drawing huge crowds and the hot dogs at the end of the night were also well received.
We would like to say a big thank you to all the WOW winners who joined us at the table. A fantastic evening was had by all and we are now eagerly looking forward to next years event.
Complete cruise solution attend travel counsellors 2008 annual conference in marbella.

Gill smeal, jo cook and caroline moody from complete cruise solution headed off to sunny spain on friday 21st november. After an early start (3am!) we arrived into malaga along with 1200 others which included 800 travel counsellors, partners and other suppliers. On arrival at the top conference hotel the gran melia don pepe, we checked in and started making up 800 goody bags with flyers with all our wave collateral and other goodies to give out at the pow wow!
At 8pm the welcome party started at olivia valere in marbella, an amazing typically andalusian venue opening its drawbridge to a magical world where our generous hosts from the costa del sol showed us a little of what spain has to offer with fantastic food, exciting entertainment and an amazing opening to conference 2008!
After attending the welcome party we carried on with the CCS goody bags eventually finishing stuffing them at 1am! It was definitely time to get some rest.
The next day feeling somewhat refreshed after a good nights sleep, the main conference started at the marbella conference centre including a welcome from david speakman and our 8 minute CCS video which was shown to over 1000 people! WOW WOW WOW WOW.

That evening was a free evening so we headed down to nearby puerto banus where all 1200 delegates had descended into linekars bar as they were offering a discount for the conference, the evening turned into a typical travel industry party and even hugh grant showed up! (need we say more!)
On sunday the conference ended with a fantastic motivational speech from annabelle bond who climbed mount everest and then went onto scale all seven summits. That night we hosted 2 tables at the gala dinner and awards where we were delighted that caroline howden who won the best cruise travel counsellor 2008 was on our table - well done caroline from all at CCS.
Finally on monday after a busy but successful few days we bid a tearful farewell to our colleagues at travel counsellors as we headed back to malaga airport for our return to the cold in the UK.
Thank you for a fantastic weekend travel counsellors - mucho gracias
we look forward to working with you in 2009.
