"ni no kuni" walkthrough: perdida errands and bounty hunts

Matt bird writes all sorts of nonsense, but he dedicates a large chunk of his time to writing game walkthroughs.

Perdida may be back to normal, but its people are in need of help—and they're hardly alone in the world. Welcome back to the trusty errands board, where all their problems are aired and opened for help. You have a lot of work ahead of you before everyone's satisfied.

Errands

1. An elderly mamooni fruit farmer is said to be thinking of selling his babana farm, much to his wife's consternation.

The farmer outside al mamoon's catermaster's store has lost his big babana love; you need to help him get it back. Snag some love from a man on the southern boardwalks in castaway cove and use it on the farmer.

Completing this task will earn you two slices of golden pie, 1500 guilders and five merit stamps.

2. A young woman from castaway cove appears to be having some trouble with matters of the heart.

The woman is along the northern walkways, and she finds herself quite tired of her husband. No love to be found. Pilfer some love from a woman in perdida, standing with her brother, to undo this unrequited love.

Completing this task will earn you three fruit flans, 1500 guilders and five merit stamps.

3. A hamelin woman is said to be having trouble with her pet, who no longer listens to anything she says.

The woman and her dog are outside hamelin's cawtermaster's store, and the dog has lost all affection for its poor master. A woman's best friend no more, it is. Bring it love from an older woman down on main street to set the dog right.

Completing this task will earn you five cheeseburgers, 1500 guilders and five merit stamps.

4. A couple from yule appear to be having a nasty argument concerning the welfare of their child.

Wife wants to take child to doctor. Husband doesn't care. Cold as ice. Bring the guy some love—say, from the girl in front of cat's cradle in town - and he'll thaw.

Complete this task to earn three handfuls of snowdrop bonbons, 1500 guilders and five merit stamps.

5. A pair of travelling merchants seem to be having trouble in perdida.

C'mon, guys, settle down already. You can find them in the northwest of perdida, standing behind a wall. The wife is heartbroken this time, and severely lacking in confidence. This unlocks A down-hearted wife, wherein you must take confidence from a woman who's wandering maybe ten feet away from the couple. Yeesh.

Complete this task to earn a tonic, 1000 guilders and five merit stamps. It also unlocks another errand.

6. Since returning to ding dong dell, one of the travelling merchants no longer feels any love for his poor wife.

This is it. Last time you have to deal with the couple. They're back where they started, in ding dong dell, and the husband is heartbroken - entirely lacking in love. Agree to deal with A cold-hearted hubby and you'll find passion in the bosom of a man in northern ding dong dell who's way too keen on the ladies.

Completing this task will earn you a bottle of nostrum, 1500 guilders and five merit stamps.

7. A young girl from perdida has been telling anyone who will listen about her exceedingly strange dream.

The little girl dreams of her soulmate, another little girl from motorville, and in out of this world she asks you to bring a flower from oliver's world. She describes the flowers as 'pink, in a pot'; she means pink tulips. Travel to motorville and you'll find the soulmate to the east of oliver's house. Use rejuvenate on the flowers and the little girl will give oliver a hometown flower. Take it back to perdida.

Completing this task will earn you two carnation cakes, four wildflower sundaes, 2500 guilders and six merit stamps.

8. An old man in perdida appears to be in a great deal of pain.

The old man is hunched outside swift solutions, and he's in a great deal of pain. He needs a special kind of cold compress from a tomte in yule—and if you've talked to people in yule, you'll know the tomte is in the north, not far from the elder's house. Go about beating a bad back by talking to the tomte.

He'll have a request of his own: beat the manglerfish near yule with a blazing blade. Say, oh, five of the beasts? Not too hard, so long as you have your mite. Look south of yule to track the creatures. Kill five, then return to the tomte to get your cold compress. Take it back to perdida for your well-deserved reward.

Completing this task will earn you a tonic, 2500 guilders and seven merit stamps.

9. A llapaca in perdida is showing little interest in its hay. Might it be ill?

It might. Use nature's tongue to talk to the llapaca using nature's tongue and it will beg oliver for some food, a tasty, scrumptious babana. Agree to feed the hungry llapaca and it will ask you for several different foods from around the world:

A babana, from al mamoon's hootsuite

A glowshrimp, from castaway cove's peddler

A black truffle, from hamelin's hootsuite

A snow radish, from yule's peddler

Completing this task will earn you a leech gem, 2500 guilders and six merit stamps. The llapaca will also give you a new alchemical formula.

10. There's a stranger in perdida . . . He appears to be waiting for someone.

Ahh, derwin, back for another round, are you? The researcher wants more creatures, bless him, and he's looking for the metamorphosed forms of three different species:

The wispula: look for the wisp on tombstone trail

The flash fry: look for the small fry near old smoky

The trumpy-pumper: look for the shonky-honker near castaway cove

This task may require a lot of patience, as you have to raise these creatures to their third-tier states to satisfy derwin—a laborious feat, to say the least. If you've been looking for an excuse to do a lot of level grinding, this is it.

Completing this task will earn you two jumbo moondrops, two jumbo planetdrops, 5000 guilders and seven merit stamps.

Bounty hunts

1. Icy giant

The villain in this task, the ice ogrrr, is found to the west of yule on a frozen lake. You've fought its kind before, and though this one is tougher it has no backup. Consequently, the battle is nice and straightforward: stay away from its physical attacks and use fire magic. It has a lot of HP, but it will be overwhelmed quickly.

Completing this task will earn you a bubble bath gem, 2500 guilders and eight merit stamps.

2. A kingdom on the brink

The beast plaguing the northwest of the rolling hills is the shellfire, a defensive fiend that couldn't move quickly if someone paid it a million dollars. This turtle will amble about the stage, attacking occasionally and doing massive amounts of damage to anybody that gets too close for too long. Let one of your devoted magic users lead it around the stage and keep casting spells that ignore its ridiculous defence skill. With some patience you'll take it down.

Completing this task will earn you a fiend's fang, 2500 guilders and eight merit stamps.

3. Magmageddon

The singer is back for one final round. Hoof it to the top of old smoky, save at the waystone, and challenge the magmadonna. Despite the boss music, magmadonna isn't that different from previous battles: she relies heavily on normal, physical hits for most damage, only occasionally using palava to hit everyone. Bracer will keep your physical damage to a minimum, so rely more on magic and stay out of her trotting range.

(while you're on the mountain, you might also want to grab the bottle of pixie dew from the green chest near the halfway point.)

Completing this task will earn you a heat ray gem, 2500 guilders and eight merit stamps.

That's it! Quite a heap of errands and bounty hunts, there, and the side questing is not done yet. Now that oliver has a full-powered mornstar, we're gonna go back and open every purple chest that we've skipped thus far, as they all contain powerful items that are great for the endgame. Easy experience and money

First, you must have access to the boat to travel. Then, go northeast of the summerlands to find a series of islands. The larger of the islands is called swan island, and the smaller island on the southern tip of the chain is called ugly duckling island. On ugly duckling island, run around to encounter the toko familiar, which rewards oliver's party with 2,000 EXP. When toko familiars are encountered, they can run away quickly. Thus, focus on them, or use spells that hide your presence to make catching and defeating them easier. Different types of the toko provide big rewards throughout the game. The following is a list of other locations to find different types of tokos, and the rewards they provide:

Horace riddle solutions

A ghost named horace can be found in different locations throughout the game. He will have a different riddle for you to solve each time. For each riddle, you will need to type out the correct answer to be rewarded with a unique spell -- one of which allows you to easily exit a dungeon, while another gives you radar for secret treasure chests.
